About Me
I’m Andy, a lifelong musician, educator, and coach. For most of my career, I didn’t trust my ear.
Like many musicians, I relied on theory to get by, even as a professional. I could explain and analyse music and perform convincingly. But I couldn’t hear it the way I wanted to.
I thought I needed more knowledge. What I actually needed was a new way to listen.
That shift changed everything. It is now at the heart of how I coach.
Today, I help musicians, especially those over 50, reconnect with their musical instincts, play by ear, improvise, and grow in confidence without overthinking theory.
I have taught in colleges and universities for years, including as Head of Music at a UK college and as a visiting tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Listen Play Grow is different. It is not about collecting more qualifications. It is about learning to trust what your ear already knows.
